Intragastric Balloon

Intragastric Balloon is a new technique to treat morbid obesity, a silicone balloon filled with a sterile saline solution is placed in the stomach, this helps by limiting the intake of food, and this procedure is a restrictive technique making the patient feel fuller faster.

A reason why this technique is also considered effective has to do with the slowdown time the stomach takes to be emptied.

Dr. Alejandro Lopez performs this technique by diagnostic endoscopy, once you are mildly sedated the deflated balloon is placed through the esophagus into the stomach.
