DUTIES OF DR EDGAR FARIAS
A cardiothoracic anesthesiologist provides anesthesia to surgical cases involving the heart, lungs, and other operations of the human chest, including bypass surgery and other procedures ranging from minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and multi-stage complex aortic surgery.
The cardiothoracic anesthesiologist is often responsible for the supervision of the heart-lung bypass machine. It will also monitor the patient’s physical condition through the use of invasive monitors, in addition to monitoring the patient’s bodily reactions to the medications needed during a surgical procedure.
All anesthesiologists have licensed physicians who have obtained a bachelor’s degree before finishing medical school with a doctorate. In addition, they complete residencies and scholarships in the field. They have performed more than 5,000 bariatric surgery procedures since 2005 and have received numerous awards for their work in bariatric surgery. Dr. Lopez grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico and received his medical degree from the University of Guadalajara. His residency in general surgery was completed at the National Medical Center of the West. IMSS. He then began training with a scholarship at Cook County Hospital Chicago Il.
